A B S T A N D (the German word for distance) is one of the keywords of 2020. This year, it has been a measure in the name of public health to prevent the spread of a contagious disease. Yet in physics, Abstand can also mean an interval or a gap. In this pandemic situation, physical distance has become an opportunity for reflection, self-exploration, and even greater closeness with our loved ones. But we haven’t experienced it in the same way: racial, political, economic & social status has created a gap between societies even deeper than the virus itself. So do we all share the same idea of distance? The collective of FLINTA* artists, Pussart, will explore different and hidden perspectives on distance, lockdown, its consequences, and human solitude in our times.
