Becky Jaraiz is a spanish illustrator and web designer. She moved to Berlin after graduating in fine arts: the history, the culture, the music and the club scene seduced and conquered her. There she grew both professionally and personally. She investigates topics about identity and the constant swing of being migrant and woman. From this intersection emerged a work that questions structural violence, but also tinges with the influence of electronic music. Overlayed traces and impulsive watercolour brushes, that blend both abstraction and figuration, belong to her artistic identity. She curated and exhibited at several art centers in Berlin, collaborated with cultural and music projects and illustrated for documentaries.
Rather than illustrator she likes to call herself “story teller”. Illustration is by now the channel that allows her to tell the most. But she does not limit herself and also experiments with other “narrative” mediums such as video, poetic prose, performance, writing, dancing or even music production. In short: a continuous exploration through the magic of telling stories.
